Ville La Grand skatepark – France

In the highly specialized field of skatepark archeology, the stream of inspiring discoveries flows without an ebb. It goes without saying that the unrelenting efforts of skatepark archeologists, highly qualified specialists in their own right, confirm the omnipotent mantra that conceives the inconceivable, manages the unmanageable and constructs the unconstructable: “It is right as long as it belong to skateboarders (not the cities)”.

Home Sweet Bowl – Northern Germany

I guess most skaters’ dream is to settle down at some point in their lives on a property with a little bowl in the backyard, or at least some kind of private shredable terrain such as an indoor miniramp.

Oasis skatepark – Las Arenas, Basque country

Again, unity is strength, so a CREW united by the skate is unstoppable. Twenty people willing to work to improve the image of your skatepark, an OASIS result in the middle of the city, a delight, cement painted bright colors, a light source, a breath of fresh air, new motivation, bueno…

Suvilahti DIY skatepark – Helsinki, Finland

We had this small skatepark in the early 90s where we built skateable obstacles. Some neighbors complained about the noise and the city people tore it down. We didn’t have a permit to build anything but that didn’t stop us because there was no other skatepark anywhere near. We ended up building several different parks but every one of those were destroyed by the city of Helsinki….

La Mar Bella skatepark – Barcelona, Spain

We’re almost finished with a new skatepark by the beach in Barcelona, Spain designed with other two more projects in 2009 by a couple architect experts on landscaping and myself as a skateboarder.

Belgium café DIY skatepark

We were cleaning up the mess of the Malinas Machinas on monday and the brewer (Frans van Craenenbroeck) comes to me and he says: ‘I bought a café with a hangar in the back. Can you come check it out and see if it’s possible to built a skatepark in there?’…

Port Land DIY. Basel, Switzerland.

In the summer of 2011 the news that the beloved BLACKCROSSBOWL was to be destroyed came true and plans were soon put into place to find a new space to build. After some intense dealings with permits and raising money the Basel crew, motivated as ever, started digging, laying iron and troweling concrete in the waste land around the port area of Basel.

Park barge – Banzai Skate Park – Oahu, Hawaii

November in Hawaii brought huge swells and an abrupt closing of the Banzai skate park on the North Shore. A closing that would supposedly help the park grow with construction.

This is Gideon Lyimo, Tanzania's best skateboarder. He didn't compete in the contest because there was no any one to stand against him. At the end I gave him 10000 Tanzania shillings (5 euros) to motivate him to keep skating. I believe he will be countries first pro skater. Shown here with a boneless to the bank. He is also my assistant.

Confusion Day – Don Bosco skate park – Tanzania, Africa

It wasn’t only the first Saturday of 2014 but for us it was also a Confusion Day. We ended the day with a superb contest and we had fun. Thankfully, we had no “hall of meat”, no one got injured although we did brake one skateboard deck.
