The Cananal Sessions – Southern Spain

With no judges, sponsors and no rules… just punk, thrash & skateboarding, “The Canal Session“. This was just about skateboarding in one of the most important DIY spots of the skateboarding scene in Spain. The rough ground and the dusty walls of this mythical ditch made the most perfect session in the land of the sun, Toledo.

OMSA crew grinds down the NorthBrigade

Although not all these guys are officially part of the OMSA crew, skaters from Germany, Basque country and England got together for a proper shred in the newly rebuilt NorthBrigade skatepark in Cologne, Germany. Although these tricks aren’t the gnarliest you’ve seen, keep in mind most of these guys are over 45 and a couple of them over 50. Let’s see you do a double truck 50-50 grind in a tight pocket when you’re 50!

Spit and Stone skate bash – Sondika, Basque Country – Spain

“Nothing is better than going back to the classics. If you follow the ancient recipe, the cake will stoke the heard. Skate, beers and fire. That´s the way it happened in Sondika´s bowl, Basque Country. Many riders skated during the evening of the March Saturday 7th, but just a few dared to feel the fire on their shinbones when the sun was about to set. Smoked tricks over the fire taste way better than others. Crazy dudes didn´t even care about burning their hands while they pulled down some inverts on the flamed pool coping. Soldiers and best moves got tons of gear. It was a proper way to celebrate the launch of the Spitfire X Volcom product collab with the dogs from FVCK Skateshop supervising the action. Mission accomplished.”

Team Trouble Contest 2015 – Laax, Switzerland

There’s actually not much to say about this event. Just that its goal is to get together as many good tranny shredders as possible in teams of four. It’s rather a group thing where the teams skating together is better judged than individual skating – therefore some pretty weird combos. And there’s a carnival Friday night where everybody goes, hence the weird costumes on some guys.

Behind the Lens: Arto Saari

I think with digital age it’s a lot more accessible and your learning curve can be faster. At the end of the day, it’s not so much about the gear, it’s more about your view and lighting that makes the picture. You could have the best stove in the world, but it doesn’t make you a great chef.

New concrete bowl in Gmunden – Austria

since the big wooden spine miniramp had to be torn down due to constant wear and tear over the years, the park definitely needed a lift up. So Michael was once more able to convince conservative politicians to spend money, this time on a concrete bowl and he raised some more dough from sponsors out of the skate scene as well to fill the last financial void …

Znakeside DIY – Rio De Janeiero

After two months we already had our own skatepark! We never had any kind of sponsorship from skateshops or brands – just from the skaters! Many materials were taken from old construction sites nearby so we could save a lot of money for more barbecue and beers!

The Cutie DIY – Zürich, Switerzland

The Beauty was our beloved indoor Pool in the Autonomous Beauty Salon in Zürich. Since the squat got evicted in spring 2014, we started to plan for a new winter spot.

Zarautz skatepark – Basque Country

The town of Zarautz on the Atlantic coast in Basque country has a long skate and surf tradition. A town well known for it’s world surfing championship held every year since the late 1980s also has a skatepark build on the beach back in this time which was a copy of the La Kantera skatepark.
