Lifeblood Skateboards: Unfinished Business – Lockwalski in Japan

Lifeblood Skateboards’ Kevin Kowalski and Cody Lockwood visited Japan in October of 2015 and met up with the Felem Skates crew to tear into an assortment of terrain. It was an amazing adventure skating the sickest spots backed by a genuine hospitality that goes off the charts. Unfortunately, upon their return home several of the recorded digital clips either went missing or ended up stuck on corrupt hard drives…

Pushing Myanmar

Pushing Myanmar is creating the first free of charge community-built skatepark in Yangon, the largest city in Myanmar (Burma). The Yangon City Development Committee has granted permission for German non-profit organization Make Life Skate Life to construct a 300m2 concrete skatepark at a public park in Kamayut Township, close to downtown Yangon. If we can reach our fundraising goal, construction will begin November 15 and the skatepark will be open to local youth by December 5!

Pura Pura, Bolivia – Un, Dos, Tres, Concrete!

The park is sick. Well most of us left before we got to see it all completed which was a little disheartening, but what was there was rad. The floor is a bit ghetto in places and, in contrast, some of the ramps are professional enough to be seen on a actual official skatepark build – this kind of sums up the entire build: somewhere between a skatepark and doing a DIY job.

A Day in the Life of Francisco “França” Lopez – Portuguese skatepark designer

One of the leading names in Portugal is Francisco “França” Lopez.

With over a quarter century with a skateboard under his feet, father of a kid who already has amazing skateboarding in his veins, team manager of the Portuguese DC Shoes, and the architect skater with more skate parks designed in Portugal than any other is now facing one of the biggest challenges of his career: create a company to build skate parks, starting at Parque das Gerações. I spent one day with him to try to understand how he can manage all this and still rip like a kid.
