Sergej Vutuc “Coincidence” photo exhibition

Sergej Vutuc is tripping across the USA putting up photo shows and performing with Helmut Vutuc Lampshade. His traveling road show is named COINCIDENCE and the first date is Saturday, April 13th at CHIIPSSssss skate shop in Detroit. He’s been shooting on the streets this last week and on alternate days spending hours in the darkroom huffing fixer until his brain is exposing his photographic visions onto paper. If you are in Detroit tomorrow, or Chicago on April 26th, make sure to check out his show. Otherwise, check back here for more dates and photos from the road…

Basti came over with a brace on his back but still stuck this Nollie Bigspin Nosepick (No sequence. You have to trust me on this one, i guess)

Art.BuZZ’l – Regensburg, Germany

Regensburg is a city located in southern Germany known more for its medieval city center and less for its relatively small but close knit skate scene. Winter can be long and ugly around here and until 2012, the usual place for some of the best winter-sessions was Markus’ flat, which he turned into a skater’s wet dream.

Sergej Vutuc – Painful reminder

“…what was important for me was to work with used material as much as possible to use things that we left – to leave and make an installation which has a double function… and on skateboard sculpture, for me is everytime kind of self play with things that i know, saw, skate and visions… the important part for me of skateboarding is to give things new meaning to see and use something what is not made for it… exploring perception and body…. first i play with many things that we know about skateboarding and objects which are skateable in simple way… but to see the change of an object meaning that people hang clothing and things on “artpeace” was something like giving new meaning to work, new step interaction…breathing…” – sergej vutuc

The Fernando Elvira Interview

It´s been around ten years ago since I first met Fernando. He was visiting our common friend, Pipas, in Switzerland and they came over for a skate session in the barn. We did not talk much back then and we didn´t have a real connection. He was mostly sitting somewhere drawing in a notebook, while everyone else got stoned when not skating. When dinner time came he sat on the side picking a raw cabbage and I remember asking him what was up with that. He told me he was as a raw foodist and how he got into that.

Fernando Elvira – German Art show Tour

Here is a short clip of my three-exhibition Tour in germany this summer. We edited it in one day at Confusion Magazine headquarters in Köln.
It was filmed by Piper, Sergej Vutuc, Jonathan Hay and myself on fairly simple cameras. A very low budget production but really high in fun, liebe and other vitamin-rich ingredients. – Fernando Elvira

Project OTRO. Vassivière, France

On a road that leads nowhere but here to Limousin, far away from the roads to southern France or the ones that lead to the mountains of the alps.
A long time project named OTRO is about to be built.

Nicky Gaston – artist feature

I discovered the works of Redwood City based artist, Nicky Gaston the year of 2007 in skate works through some close friends of Jason Strubing and mine. I became really interested in him not just as a skateboarder, but learning that he had more talents than one. He was not just a skateboarder, but also a skateshop manager as well as an artist. When I skate with him he seems to barge everything and give it his all. Its like he does that with everything and has amazing energy that people can feed off of.
