Shroeder Bomb – PDX Skate Rock – were touring around the US and finished their tour with a gig in Portland on July 5th. Before the show they had a skate session at Burnside. Olga Aguilar shot all these photos and sat down with Brady Walsh, front man of Shroeder Bomb, and asked him to tell us about Schroeder Bomb and there recent tour:
“Being part of Schroeder Bomb is one of the best things to happen in my life. There’s nothing better than riding skateboards, writing tunes, bailing pools, breaking shit, getting rowdy, and booking shows based off the latest skate spots with your closest homies. We started the band in 2011 and our first show was Burnside Halloween. We were not on the bill but we barged that shit and it’s all been total chaos ever since. The name is a tribute to one of the gnarliest dudes in skating (Ben Schroeder). From jock straps to fighting jocks outside a club in Seattle we have been through a lot together and I would not change it for the world.
Recently Max, our drummer, moved to Hawaii to be with his family and I moved to Wisconsin to start up my new family so it’s been far too long since we have been within shooting distance from each other. Mike Hell, Ruska, Scroggins, and Nukes all still live in Portland and are able to skate and jam together. This last tour really meant a lot to all of us for that reason and that is why we chose to start and end the tour in our home (Burnside).
Lots of great stories from this one to tell the grandkids. From dumping hot sauce in Scroggins eye socket to bailing a pool that had the largest black widows I ever seen to boxing matches going on next to us while playing Oakland to smoking a 4 oz joint on stage with Agnostic Blunt in Santa Cruz…. then having to play after that to riding Splash Mountain. The stories are endless and we look forward to doing more tours in the future.
Too many shout outs to list all but here are a few:
Black market Kyle, all the bands we played with, all the people that put us up, Lower Bobs crew for hospitality, Marginal Way family, Burnside family, Grindline and Dreamland for paving the way, CJ from TLM, East Bay Rats MC, Pyrate hooker, everyone that came out to shows, Chinese fireworks, all that helped with the Hubbard memorial addition at South Park, Tecate, Twighlight Lounge, Liquor Lounge, any one who bought us beers, buds, or merch and especially Mike Hell for raising the bar on and off a board putting up with our drunk asses.” – Brady Walsh
