Wellington Bowlarama started on the Wednesday. I got down there early, because I heard Sky Siljeg was flying in. When I got there a few locals were there and for a change they were painting the bowl on Wednesday instead of Friday, so I hung out with Morph, Bowman Hanson & Matt Fenton, with Sky not to be seen?
The paint dried quickly (thanks to the Cam Smith doing most of the hard work) and the first session of Bowl-a-Rama started around midday. As everyone was getting used to the lines, the Brazilians showed and everyone started going off their CHOPS!
I met a few of the old skaters, Brian Patch‘s first trip & Sean Goff was back, always rad to see this old bugger still killing it. A few new skaters were there, including Cory Juneau who I’d never seen skate, doing Cabellerials, indy kicks, and the smoothest ollie nose grinds, coming in like on tank tracks. Morph was joking about him not landing Cabs and he was landing them in no time.
As usual Pedro Barros was looking the shit & Felipe Foguinho and all the other Brazilians were too, including 15 year old 1st timer Vi Kakinho.
The highlight of the day were moves Pedro was trying, frontside ollie kickflips, psycho nose grinds at insane speed from one end to the other on the flat wall and ollies from the lower waterfall to the top.
