At the end of 2012 Alex Funk, head of Telum Skateboards and a few Stuttgart locals visited the former health ministry in Stuttgart and decided it could be a good place to build up something new to skate indoor in Stuttgart. The Skateboard Museum, also located in Stuttgart, was closing at the end of the year. So there was the possibility to rebuild the Museum Bowl into the new location.
A crew of seven people was working on it all the way until the construction was finished at the end of January 2013. The place now consists of the bowl (a 3 ft. high minibowl with a
5.5 ft. pool coping cradle) and a 3 ft. miniramp.
The place is pretty rad to skate: You can do transfers from bowl to miniramp and vice versa. In some parts, the ceiling is a little bit low but overall it‘s a great advantage in comparison to the former Skateboard Museum location. It is private and used a lot by the locals who built it, but other people are, of course, always welcome.
In the beginning of March the place will take part in Stuttgart’s “long night of the museums” where every museum in town will be open for one night. There will also be some skate fotos /art by various skate photographers.
Concept: Black & White pictures – only of underground skate locations in Stuttgart.
Telum is also planning to do a clip series “bowlin““ so check it out, it will come soon on telumskateboarding.com
Go skate the bowl on March 16th, 2013 during the “Long night of the museums” in Stuttgart, 19:00-2:00. If you are in the area, check it out for culture and parties, and also skateboarding!
