Etnies Skatepark’s new “Shark Pool” drew 500 skaters Friday night for the annual Hallows Eve Bowl Contest. The fourth annual event featured competitions in four divisions. Everyone wore costumes and the crowd was treated to live music by Killing California and skate rock legends JFA. Both bands brought the sessions to a boil! Even the 12 and unders (Gremlins) had a rad jam session going. Gremlins, Skylar and Lance had a nice crash, but felt nothing and kept shredding! Greyson Fletcher was in beast mode and owned the pool with high speed coping destruction and massive airs. $100 best trick of the night went to Shaun Ross from Oceanside for a huge boneless to disaster hang up, broke his board and still rolled away. Honorable mentions went to Greyson Fletcher and Corey Juneau who landed a 6 foot stalefish air and a huge indy kickflip (respectively). Kolby Franz, Jonny Abernathy, Aidan Dansey, Kevin Burke, and Summer Vereecke also laid down some impressive lines. The event raised nearly $1,000 towards the park’s “Keep’n It Free” campaign, according to Nick Gates Etnie’s skate park coordinator.
