Ruoke is a small village outside Jyvaskyla city in Finland, and that’s where the name of the spot originates from. The spot is about 10 km from Jyvaskyla, near Ruoke village in the middle of nowhere on this abandoned highway stop. Those barriers have been there for ages and we all have had our eyes on them for years. Two years ago Ville and few other guys started this spot by doing a small concrete tranny to make one of those barriers skateable. Later on they moved one of the barriers closer to the other barrier and cast them together, making it a kind of a pool corner – then some layers of paint – and that’s it. A perfect little spot in the middle of nowhere. Really steep and hard as fuck to skate, but perfectly functional and just perfect! I love it! There’s a small special feature about this spot. There’s this huge spruce tree on one side of the area and there’s a small wooden cross and always one electric candle burning. Kinda spooky. There was a car crash at that spot a while ago and someone died in it. The family has made ths spot kind of a sanctuary… There are plans to continue the project, but we’ll see what happens. I like it the way it is now. Rough and hard.
